Day Twenty Five - October 21, 2008

Suzanne and I went to lunch and to visit Meredith at work before she went back to Birmingham.  Adeline had a fun filled afternoon with the girls.

Day Twenty Four - October 20, 2008

Mommy & Daddy's 1 Year Anniversary

Adeline has been suffering from a stuffy nose for a few days now.  Just because she's still so little, we decided to make a doctor's appointment.  We found out that everything was fine (just a stuffy nose as we suspected) and were reassured we were doing all the right things to cure it.  The most exciting part of the visit, Adeline got weighed.  She weighed 8 lbs 15 oz.  Little Miss Piggy!  We're glad she's healthy and gaining weight.

Suzanne and Meredith kept Adeline so Jason and I could go to dinner.  (I didn't want to leave her for too long...)  We had a wonderful dinner at Hamiltons in downtown Auburn.  Jason sent me a vase full of white daisys (my favorite) and an outrageous number of heart shaped balloons.  It was a wonderful anniversary as a family.

Halloween Dress Up

So, I forgot to mention that we played dress up with Adeline Sunday afternoon.  We put on her Halloween top from Grammy and her black leggings from Mimi.  Suzanne reminded us that she and Meredith picked out this cute little owl hat for Adeline.  She did pretty good with the pictures at first.  Then wanted to ditch the hat.  Needless to say, Jason is ready for October 31st so all of her Halloween gear can be worn no longer.

Before the full outfit change.... Hat only!

My very cute and FESTIVE Halloween outfit

No hat!

What a cute little hoot owl...

Whoo.  Whoo.

Day Twenty Two and Twenty Three - October 18 & 19, 2008

We left the Hunt Club on Saturday afternoon.  After all that excitement, we just took it easy on Saturday night.  Sunday we though about going to church but decided to wait one more week.  Suzanne had fall break on Monday and Tuesday, so she came to visit.  She got here Sunday afternoon.  We all went to the grocery store to get some pumpkins to carve.  Meredith came over for dinner on Sunday night (Jason was REALLY OUTNUMBERED!).  We never got around to carving those pumpkins, but had lots of help with Adeline and got to visit.

Day Twenty One - October 17, 2008

In honor of Adeline's three week birthday, we decided to venture out of the house.  Adeline and I ran some errands this morning (well my idea of morning now which is around noon - I'm up much earlier but don't get a shower and breakfast until 11 - oh well).  She wasn't all too cooperative at first.  She decided to make me change a dirty diaper and feed her in the parking lot at Target.  Oh the joys of motherhood....  You get very creative when you have to.  Well, she finally went to sleep after fussing through Target and Hobby Lobby.  I got groceries (just the bare essentials) and made it home.  We were gone for 3 hours and got barely anything accomplished, but we did it!  Jason was waiting on us to get home to go on a family adventure to the Long Branch Hunt Club.  Jason was itching to hunt and we wanted some fresh air.  We enjoyed our night at the Hunt Club.  No deer.  Adeline did get to meet lots of our friends at the Hunt Club.  All of the men out there were eating her up.  They thought she was the cutest little thing and of course she loved all the attention and being held CONSTANTLY.  The only downside (besides Jason not even laying eyes on a deer) was that we forgot to take a picture.

Day Twenty - October, 16, 2008

Tonight Jason and I took Adeline to downtown Auburn.  We strolled her to Mellow Mushroom.  She fell asleep in the stroller and slept all through us eating dinner.  Then, we got to let one of our friends, Aaron Barber, meet her.  She woke up just for him to see her pretty eyes.  We had a great family night!  A walk, pizza, and the cool fall air all with our little baby.... Not much better.

Day Nineteen - October 15, 2008

Opening day for bow season....

Jason stayed home in the morning to help with Adeline, but went hunting in the afternoon.  Adeline and I were going to go, but decided to stay here instead.  He came home sans deer.  Maybe tomorrow or this weekend.....

Adeline did beautifully today.  She was really tired from yesterday (stuffy nose and LOTS of dirty diapers); so, she slept most of the day.

Day Seventeen and Eighteen - October 13 & 14, 2008

Lazy days.....  We've been at the house eating, changing diapers, and sleeping.  Adeline's got the life!

Here are some pictures from the second week of Adeline's life.

Going for a walk with Mommy in my Auburn hat and pacy....

Daddy can't believe how small I am.  He compared me to the remote.

Loving my eskimo kisses....

Awake and sporting my cute new sleeper from Mimi

Adeline in the first pink outfit Jason bought for her when he found out we were having a girl.  He also picked the socks (which look like little Ugs) from Life is Good when we visited Atlanta (before we had Adeline).  She looks so cute in her Daddy's picks!

Day Sixteen - October 12, 2008

We decided Adeline was probably still too small for church today, so we went to the hunt club.  Bow season starts on Wednesday and Daddy needed to get him hunting clothes to wash (and his bow for a little practice).   Tommy got to meet Adeline - even though she was sleeping of course.  We're looking forward to many great memories at the hunt club.  Adeline loved the weather and peace and quiet out there.

Day Fifteen - October 11, 2008

Today we got up and left for breakfast downtown just before 11.  Time changes with a newborn....  We ate breakfast outside of Bizilia's in downtown Auburn.  It was nice to sit outside and enjoy all of the people in town for the game.  After eating, we strolled Adeline around downtown and went in a few shops.  We left there to go to Scott and David's house to tailgate.  They were cooking out before the game.  We ate a late lunch over there and came home to watch the game.  After the game, we went back to eat dinner with Scott and Bud.  We had such a great day!  (besides Auburn losing the football game....)

Day Fourteen - October 10, 2008

Two weeks old.... Time sure does fly!  Some of our good friends, Dawn and Tracy Lowry came to visit.  Dawn put Adeline to sleep and Tracy outfitted her for her first hunt camp visit.  Daniel came and helped take care of Adeline and entertain Dixie.  We enjoyed their visit and can't wait for hunting season - bow season starts this Wednesday.  We are very thankful for your friendship Dawn and Tracy.  We think the world of you and love you lots!

Day Thirteen - October 9, 2008

Today Mimi left and my Grammy C and Grandpa Clark and Aunt Amy came to visit.  Aunt Amy made sure to get plenty of turns holding me (since she won't see me again until Thanksgiving).  I got a sleep sheep from Grammy and Grandpa and a pretty pink dress from Aunt Amy.  It was so great to see them all!

Also, Mrs. and Mr. E sent Mommy and me a GREAT GIFT - a handmade baby sling.  We've already used it a few times and it works like a charm.  Amazing what you can do with two hands!  Thank you Mr. and Mrs. E.

Aunt Amy has put me to sleep again!  (Please come visit again soon - particularly between 4 and 6 am)

Days Ten to Twelve - October 6 to 8, 2008

Mom has been a HUGE help.  She has held Adeline a little bit, but mainly has done dishes, laundry, laundry, cleaning, and more laundry.  Adeline, even though she's small, goes through LOTS of clothes.  So, maybe not much of a vacation for Mimi....  We did get to go shop downtown, go to Target, Hobby Lobby, Old Navy, Kroger, lunch a few times, and visit Meredith at work.  We had a good time with Mimi.  Thanks so much for everything Mom!

Day Nine - October 5, 2008

Since Adeline is still to little for church, we decided to run a few errands today.  We went to Target to get a few things and then to lunch at Red Lobster.  Adeline slept through it all, of course.   Mom's fall break starts on Monday.  She decided to come stay and help for a few days.  She got here Sunday evening.  We're looking forward to a little extra help!

At Red Lobster

Day Eight - October 4, 2008

Today Adeline, Jason, and I tailgated at the house.  We watched Auburn get beat by Vanderbilt.  Pretty bad!  Adeline was just a little cuddlebug watching football with Daddy.  I think they both had a great time.  She got her gameday gear on to support the Auburn Tigers.  We were hoping to get pictures with Toomer's rolled.... oh well, not this time.

Cute little Auburn fan

A slideshow of memories from the first week of Adeline's life.....
We hope you enjoy them as much as we have!
Lots of love,

Day Seven - October 3, 2008

A picture from yesterday....

Bud and Katy Beth Worthy with Adeline

HAPPY ONE WEEK BIRTHDAY ADELINE!

Jason and I cannot believe that today is Adeline's original due date.  We can't believe that a week ago we were at the hospital having Adeline.  It seems like so much longer.  We are truly enjoying our time with Adeline.  We can't believe the amount of love that you can have for your child.  Also, the way that the love in your marriage changes with the addition of a child.  Jason and I have loved, held, kissed, bathed, changed, fed, snuggled, and watched our beautiful little girl.  We feel so blessed and thankful.  We look forward to the next week with Adeline and the next and the next....  What a wonderfully, perfect gift - Adeline Jane Clark.

Today we had our follow up appointment with the lactation consultant.  Adeline is doing better on her jaundice - just keep her soaking up those rays!  She weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz.  Is it even possible to gain that much in one day?

Our friends Stephen and Marie Kersey were induced today.  So, their little girl and Adeline will be exactly one week apart.
Welcome Emma Hayes Kersey!   10.03.2008 - 7 lbs. 14 oz. - 20.5 in.
We look forward to lots of tailgating and fun with our little girls.

Tonight Adeline had lots of visitors.  Adrienne, Holly, and Angelika (from Auburn High School) came to visit.  Angelika ended up helping Meredith with integration by parts while Holly held the baby.  Adrienne stopped by and brought a Poppyseed Chicken Casserole (very good!).  Later on, Beth, Bud, Katy Beth, and JR brought Honeybaked Ham for dinner.  Jason and I actually got to eat together (at the same time!).  Dinner was wonderful and so was the company.  We have such amazing friends.  We appreciate and love you all so much!

Day Six - October 2, 2008

A few more pictures from yesterday.....

Adeline, Great Aunt Lib, and Great Uncle Don

After the whole poop on the couch incident (doesn't she look innocent!)

Great Uncle Don loving on Adeline

My big surprise from Larry and Matt (Daddy's storm work buddies)

Today we had two doctor's appointments - one for Adeline with the lactation consultant and one for Mommy with Dr. Harris.  Adeline was almost back up to her birth weight 7 lbs. 6 oz. and she had a little jaundice.  We're going back tomorrow for a recheck.  Everything was fine with Mommy, just a couple cuts making her sore... but we took the chance to get a picture with Dr. Harris.  Even though he didn't end up delivering Adeline, he took very good care of us until then.  Thank you Dr. Harris and Dr. Marino for a very healthy, beautiful baby girl.

With Dr. Harris (in front of Dr. Marino's office to make him jealous - so Dr. Harris says)

I went grocery shopping today for the first time in weeks.  I only had an hour.  Well, I didn't make it.  Jason had an appointment and I had to leave the full buggy of groceries at Kroger.  Lucky for us, Richelle had offered to come stay with the baby today if I needed her to.  She came to the rescue so I could go buy my abandoned groceries.  Thanks Richelle for your help!  Adeline absolutely loved being held for a couple of hours...

Day Five - October 1, 2008

Adeline did really good and let Jason and I have some sleep last night.  Here she is right before she woke up.  We put her on the big bed to take her picture.

All swaddled up....

Look at those cute little hands

One foot peeking out

This morning we went on a shopping spree to Babies R Us.  I needed the most cherished item of all - a breast pump!  Of course, you can't go to Babies R Us and only get what you need, so we left with lots more.  Adeline was really tired after the shopping.

All cuddled up for a nap....

After shopping, we went to see Adeline's Great Aunt Lib and Great Uncle Don.  When we got to their house, Adeline had a dirty diaper.  We changed it (with a BIG TOWEL down) on the couch.  Well, that didn't work out too great.  She obviously wasn't finished and christened the couch.  After getting all that under control, Aunt Lib fed her a bottle while Jason, Uncle Don, and I ate lunch.

Adeline and Great Aunt Lib

On our way home, Adeline got hungry.  So we stopped at Starbucks to get a coffee and feed the baby.  She went right back to sleep.  She loves her car seat!  When we got home, we had a few surprises.  Also, David and Scott came over to bring us some yummy dinner from Gourmet Tiger.  Scott held me for a little bit, but David said I was too fragile....

Day Four - September 30, 2008

Today was a rough day for Adeline and me.  Jason was gone all day working.   This was the first time we were on our own.  On top of that, my milk came in.  So, I was engorged.  Adeline's diapers were too big and she was wetting EVERYTHING!  I was still sore from delivery.  Adeline was having trouble feeding.  Needless to say, it was a total disaster..... until, I called my dear sweet sister in love, Ann, and she and Billy came to the rescue.  They were armed with everything a crying pregnant lady would need.  Ann helped me get everything under control.  Adeline ate and Uncle Billy got her some smaller diapers.  Everything was peachy!  Thank you so much Billy and Ann for being such a wonderful brother and sister.  I love you both!

That night Grammy made a yummy dinner for all of us and Great Grandma and Papaw Davidson came over.  Dinner was great!  Dessert was even better.... Pumpkin Bread with Cream Cheese Icing.  We loved getting to visit with family and Adeline was thankful to be loved on!

Day Three - September 29, 2008

Ready for my car ride.....

My first road trip....
Jason found out on Sunday that he needed to be in Atlanta for work on Tuesday morning.  Adeline and I decided to go too.  So, we left Auburn on Monday night.  We stopped to get Jason's favorite, Blimpie, for dinner.  We got to Atlanta around 9 pm.  We stayed at Grammy and Grandpa Clark's house.

Day Two - September 28, 2008

Mom and Dad brought us Panera for breakfast.  They stayed most of the day today to help us out.  Jason and I both got to take a short nap.  We got a little sleep last night.  Adeline did pretty good for her first night.   We are still definitely sleep deprived but going on adrenaline and love...  Thanks to everyone for all of the help, love, and support.  We came home yesterday to a clean house thanks to Billy, Ann, Mom and Dad Clark.  We had a pink bow on the mailbox - Thank you Holly.  We appreciate and love you all.

Day One - September 27, 2008

Tailgating at the hospital (Thanks for my Auburn sleeper Mimi)

GO TIGERS! (Thanks for my first Auburn tiger Grammy and Grandpa Clark)
Going home after a day and a half..... YIPEE!

First car ride in my comfy car seat

Our parents and Billy and Ann are still visiting.  It's been so nice to be surrounded with family at such a special time.  The pediatrician told us this morning at 9 am that he had released the baby.  We couldn't believe it!  Are we going to get to sleep in our own bed tonight?  We had to wait for the OBGYN to make his rounds to see if I could be released.  Mom and Dad Clark bought Adeline her first tiger (for Auburn of course).  Mom and Dad got her an Auburn sleeper.  So, we dressed her up for the game (Auburn vs. Tennessee).  She slept through the whole thing but her Daddy loved being able to watch football and hold his sweet little girl.  The doctor finally made it at 4:30 and released us.  YIPEE!  Home in our own bed with our baby....  Just before we left the hospital, John Rice showed up just in time to visit and help dress Adeline in her pink dress.  Adeline and I had to be wheeled out of the hospital in a wheelchair.  Not exactly the chariot we were hoping for but we'll take the free ride.... Of course, Jason snapped a picture before I could get up.  HOME SWEET HOME and it feels so good.  Mom and Dad came over and we ate pizza and watched football.  What a great day!

Sister Lacy with her new niece

So, we're camped out in the hospital.  Mom and Dad were here by 5:30 am (they left Huntsville after I called and told them my water broke).  Mom and Dad Clark made it by around 9.  They were so sad they couldn't be there for the birth but we really didn't have a clue it was going to be so fast!  (Neither did the doctor and nurse - they told us lunchtime).  Lacy, Suzanne, Meredith, Billy, Ann, and Elliana made it today too.  We are so thankful that our family loves us so much to travel to see us and our newest addition.  We had a few other unexpected visitors too.  A couple of my sweet students from school, Leah Knight and Paige Kahn (friends who work at the hospital), and Rachel.  Adeline has been passed around and is loving all the attention and being held.  She stayed in the nursery tonight so we could try to sleep... So much for that!
